On a busy site, a crew shirt is partly branding and partly identification — a site super needs to know at a glance who belongs to which outfit.

Here is what works for crews, companies, trades and safety programmes.

    Company and crew shirts

Company name large across the back. Readable at distance, which on a site means from the other end of a slab. See custom construction worker shirts.

First name on the front. Site supers, inspectors and other trades all deal with your crew. Names speed everything up.

Crew or gang number. For larger outfits running several crews.

Trade designation. Framing, concrete, drywall, roofing, steel. On a multi-trade site this is genuinely useful rather than decorative.

Project-specific shirts. For a long job, a shirt with the project name becomes a memento. Crews keep these.

Company name with licence and phone. For smaller contractors doing residential work, the shirt is advertising to every neighbour on the street.

    High-visibility and site rules

Worth being clear about: a printed cotton tee is not a certified high-visibility garment, and it does not replace an ANSI-rated vest or shirt where site rules require one.

What most crews do in practice is wear a company tee under the rated vest, or use bright shirt colours for crews working away from traffic and plant. Safety orange and safety yellow shirts are popular for exactly this reason — they read as site-appropriate without pretending to be certified gear.

Check your site's requirements before ordering for a crew. It is a quick conversation and much cheaper than reordering thirty shirts.

    Safety milestone shirts

Among the most-worn shirts on any site, because they are earned.

    "500 Days No Lost Time."

"One Year Incident Free · [Project Name]."

Safety week shirts with the year.

Toolbox talk milestone shirts for crews that take the programme seriously.

A safety shirt costs less than most incentive schemes and crews actually wear them, which is more than can be said for most safety merchandise.

    Trade-specific designs

Framers. "Measure Twice. Blame The Plans."

Concrete crews. "We Pour. You Pose." Finishers work hours nobody else does and the shirts tend to say so.

Roofers. "Working At Height. Paid At Ground Level."

Drywall. "We Hide Everyone Else's Mistakes." Accurate.

Steel erectors. "If You Can See Me, I Am Too Low."

Heavy equipment operators. "I Move More Before 9am Than You Do All Week."

General. "It Is Not Crooked. It Is Character."

    Company culture shirts

Years-of-service shirts. "10 Years" with the employee's name. Cheap recognition that works.

Topping-out shirts for the day the last beam goes up.

Project completion shirts with the build name and dates.

Apprentice intake shirts with the class year.

    Organising a crew order

Use a form. Name, size, crew. Not a conversation across a site.

Ask for sizes explicitly, S through 5XL. This matters more in construction than most trades, and people rarely volunteer the larger sizes.

Order 20% spares. Site shirts get destroyed and new hands start constantly.

Check spelling at proof stage. Names on shirts are permanent as far as a crew is concerned.

    Ordering

No minimum — one shirt or a hundred. Fifteen or more gets 25% off, which almost every crew order clears. Different names on every shirt cost nothing extra. No setup or artwork fees, including redrawing your company logo from a photo. Free design proof. S–5XL at $25, $28 and $30.

Related trades: custom welder shirts, custom electrician shirts and custom plumber shirts.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Are these shirts ANSI high-visibility rated?
No. A printed cotton tee is not certified hi-vis and does not replace a rated vest where site rules require one. Many crews wear a company tee under the vest.

Can each shirt have a different crew member's name?
Yes, at no extra cost, and the order still counts toward the 15-shirt discount.

Can you print our company logo?
Yes. Send whatever you have, including a photo off a truck, and we will redraw it cleanly at no charge.

Do you print safety milestone shirts?
Yes, and they are among the most-worn shirts on any site because crews earn them.

    What is the minimum order?
None. Fifteen or more gets 25% off.

    What sizes do you offer?
    S through 5XL. S–XL $25, 2XL–3XL $28, 4XL–5XL $30. Ask the whole crew — larger sizes are often not volunteered.
